Dear Fellow Racers,
This years race may look a bit different! We are working hard to be able to still host our 2020 event but this year we have to be flexible. The current mandates make it extremely difficult for the swim portion. We are fortunate that the race is still a few months out, but we have to be prepared for the chance of the restrictions keeping us from the pool portion. We are excited to announce that we have an alternate plan; a Biathlon! With that being said, our registration process will look a little different this year. We will not be collecting the entry fees at this time. You will be registering for a Triathlon, with the understanding that if the pool is unable to accommodate 12 swimmers at a time, the race will then be a Biathlon (we may not know which we will be hosting until the beginning of August). When we are able to complete the mitigation plans required to host the event and are out of danger of having to cancel the race, we will contact everyone who registered. You will be given 5 days to pay the entry fee or you will forfeit your spot. You will be given another chance to register, if the 75 spots have not been filled. We expect to fill up quickly since most races have had to cancel this year.
We look forward to racing with you all!

About Tri Nikiski
The Tri Nikiski event is a non-chip timed event designed to raise money for local groups and have a lot of fun in the process. Like you, we enjoy triathlons and wanted another event on the Kenai Peninsula during the summer.
Bring your family and enjoy the play park right next to the pool with acres of grass where you can have a picnic following the event.

Event Information
Location
The event will take place in Nikiski at the North Peninsula Recreation Service area's pool (the Nikiski Pool) located at 55525 Poolside Ave, Kenai, AK 99611. Showers and changing areas are available for you to use.
Parking
Parking will be in the lot just past the pool on the right. If that lot fills up, overflow parking will be at the rec center parking lot at the corner of poolside ave and the Kenai Spur Hwy.
Bike stands will be needed in the paved transition area.
Pool
The swim will be 10 laps with two people per lane. No flotation or assist devices allowed, no snorkels.
Bike
This bike route is an out and back course on small rolling hills. The route will start at the pool, and turn left towards the Kenai Spur Hwy (KSH). Turn left onto the KSH and proceed on the paved bike path until the turnaround point at Holt Lamplight road. When riding back towards the pool, bikers will be riding on the highway shoulder. Turn right onto poolside towards the transition area.
Bike safety notes:
- A bike helmet is required.
- No earphones/headphones are allowed on the bike course.
- Bikers must follow the normal rules of the road.
- Be aware of the side roads while riding. Traffic is generally pretty light but ride with awareness of your surroundings.
Run
The 5K run will be on the trail system behind the pool area. Since we live in Alaska, there is always potential for wildlife so be aware...or you might find yourself with the sudden motivation to set a new PR. No headphone allowed on run course. If you need music or want GPS during your run, you can use your phone just as long as you are holding the device....and have good taste in music!
